In business we treat people the way we like to be treated - with consideration, honesty and respect. This is true at every point and for every person we deal with, both on the production side of Greengrocer and with our own staff and our customers. We are committed to producing quality, well designed, products that benefit consumers here in the UK as well as those elsewhere involved in producing them. We have invested time and money in developing partnerships with suppliers who share common principles of sustainable, safe, fair and honest trade and business.
You have likely gathered by now that ethical production isn't just lip service for us. To establish and maintain ethical production standards we have developed the Greengrocer Code of Standards for Ethical Production and Procurement. We require our suppliers to sign up to the code and we monitor compliance. We have taken care and time to interview, visit and assess the facilities of our various suppliers; with all bag producers personally selected by our MD. It's worth noting that each of our fabric bag producers provide, where required, employee transport, on-site accommodation, meals, health care and social support as standard.
Additionally, we support the principles of the International Labour Organisation* and the SAI SA8000 Standard**, which require a stated policy and executive responsibility to safeguard the health, safety and overall welfare of workers where products are made.
Finally, on the issue of environmental ethics...We fully recognise our environmental responsibilities and we always seek to ensure that our suppliers do not compromise standards which could impact adversely upon their environments. For additional information, please view our FAQ page here.
When you use a Greengrocer bag you can be sure you are using an ethically produced environment-friendly product.
