The Making Recycling Second Nature Campaign
together with Measure Me Green - Sustainability Limited
Protecting our environment is a vital and often emotive issue. Like many people, we at Greengrocer often get upset about the amount of unnecessary waste produced in the UK. Greengrocer is about promoting sustainable consumer and business practices starting with bags. This is the motivation for our work! The solution lies is making greener choices and behaviour easier…and making them part of people’s everyday experiences.
That’s why recently we teamed up with Measure Me Green Sustainability Limited to support a new environmental campaign for summer 2008 entitled ‘Making Recycling Second Nature’. The aim is to promote the core values of well known maxim: ‘Reduce Reuse Recycle’ (which is also the tag line on our bags!)
’Making Recycling Second Nature’ emphasises the last ‘R’ in the line…RECYCLING! We believe that making products and packaging recyclable is preferable to making them biodegradable because recycling creates jobs, stimulates the economy (in a good way!) and most importantly it ‘cycles’ the embodied energy bound up in the goods we use. Our collective task in the UK is to raise our national recycling rate…by ’Making Recycling Second Nature’. Why? Because of the 15 EU member states, the UK ranks a disappointing 13th, lagging behind our euro-neighbours on recycling vs landfill rates. *
We are pleased to announce that from July 2008 we will be donating part proceeds from every Greengrocer bag sold to Measure Me Green’s ’Making Recycling Second Nature’ Campaign which will provide free information, advice and inspirational ideas about how you can make recycling second nature.
Stay tuned for details about ’Making Recycling Second Nature’ activities and an event we have planned for September 09. If you wish to join our mailing list, please drop us a line to email@greengrocer.uk.com
